This checklist offers a simple starting point for assessing your compliance. It’s not exhaustive as every provider has unique requirement. The checklist outlines the core elements that most businesses need to consider.

Leadership & Governance

Is there a named Health & Safety Lead accountable at senior level?

Is health and safety performance discussed at leadership or board level?

Risk Management & Incident Reporting

Have all required premises and risk assessments been completed or reviewed in the past 12 months? Are you considering all staff activity and hazards i.e. stress?

Is there a transparent process for recording, investigating, and learning from incidents and near misses?

Are environmental and physical hazards regularly monitored and documented (e.g. infection control, fire safety)?

Staff Training & Safety Culture

Is health and safety included in staff inductions and competency checks?

Are refresher courses delivered consistently (e.g manual handling, safeguarding, fire safety)?

Are staff competent and trained to safely carry out their role?

Is there evidence that safety concerns are raised and acted upon (duty of candour)?

Premises & Infection Control

Are COSHH regulations followed for chemical and hazardous medication substance storage?

Is there a robust infection prevention protocol, including PPE and cleaning routines?

Are regular audits carried out to ensure equipment, infrastructure, and emergency access are safe?

Emergency Preparedness & Contingency

Do staff know the correct emergency procedures (fire, outbreak, evacuation)?

Are drills conducted, logged, and reviewed for improvement?

Is your business continuity plan reviewed annually and shared with key stakeholders?
